Somewhere in the noise is a song. Somewhere in the cacophony is a melody—a sweet sound. The ensemble is our attempt to discover the rhythms, the groanings and the eureka moments of life amongst the noise.

No sex for conservatives

When Pontius Pilate uttered the infamous line ‘What is truth?’ he was like, so 2,000 years ahead of his time. Of course, he didn’t know he was being postmodern, he was just trying to avoid taking the blame for killing the Son of God. Don’t worry, I’ll get to the sex and conservatives bit…

You know how you’re allowed to make fun of your own family? Having grown up in the warm nest of conservative certainty, I feel somewhat entitled to poke a gentle bit of fun at my conservative kin, some of whom are terrified of the postmodern tendency to question the truth, share information, wrestle with different viewpoints, accept an element of greyness in some areas etc.

Hence Conservapedia, launched last November to present an alternative to the perceived liberal bias of sites such as Wikipedia.

Similarily to Wikipedia, anyone is able to contribute. While Wikipedia principles state that contributions must be written from a neutral point of view, the controllers of Wikipedia themselves openly admit the flaws of the system . They acknowledge that all editors and sources have biases and that a "trust, but verify" approach should apply to readers of the site.

The founders of Conservapedia, on the other hand, admit no such bias. Contributors have the daunting task of presenting the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, in accordance with the first commandment (their word) of Conservapedia: "Everything you post must be true and verifiable."

I know I’m naughty but I typed ‘sex’ in the search engine for Conservapedia to see what the truth was — hey, I want to know. It said "this page has been deleted, and protected to prevent re-creation".

But I thought we were meant to re-create and fill the earth and stuff?

Sezy_Could it be time for you to follow your dreams and launch the'Consexapedia' on-line resource to give your desires the full liberty to run free guided only by your conservative foundations?

It could well be time Simon. The scant resources gleaned from my years at a Christian high school and a general lack of practical knowledge on the subject see me qualified for the task.

in fact, type anything into conservapedia and you get a whole load of nothing. i think they have some work to do.

i'm all up for starting an online resource of sexual conservatism. we can broach the subject just like they do in a good youth group setting - say nothing for a whole year and then hammer it home in every message day and night for a month until you've heard so much about it and you're so sick of it that you swear you'll never ever go near it! or was that alcohol and drugs? i can never remember.

Sezy, i think i've found you a platform - if you search for some of the neccesary bits for sex in conservapedia (maybe like "pash", "playing cards", "dancing", and maybe some body parts) you'll find that a page has yet to be created and it offers you (yes you!!) the opportunity to create that page - so what are you waiting for?
