If you've got no idea what this is all about, go here. If you're up for the ride, let's read... 1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; 2 Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story— 3 those he gathered from the lands, 4 Some wandered in desert wastelands, 5 They were hungry and thirsty, 6 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, 7 He led them by a straight way 8 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love 9 for he satisfies the thirsty 10 Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness, 11 because they rebelled against God's commands 12 So he subjected them to bitter labor; 13 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, 14 He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, 15 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love 16 for he breaks down gates of bronze 17 Some became fools through their rebellious ways 18 They loathed all food 19 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, 20 He sent out his word and healed them; 21 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love 22 Let them sacrifice thank offerings 23 Some went out on the sea in ships; 24 They saw the works of the LORD, 25 For he spoke and stirred up a tempest 26 They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; 27 They reeled and staggered like drunkards; 28 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, 29 He stilled the storm to a whisper; 30 They were glad when it grew calm, 31 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love 32 Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people 1 "Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!" declares the LORD. 2 Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: "Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done," declares the LORD. 3 "I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number. 4 I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing," declares the LORD. 5 "The days are coming," declares the LORD, 6 In his days Judah will be saved 7 "So then, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "when people will no longer say, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,' 8 but they will say, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the descendants of Israel up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.' Then they will live in their own land." 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who [a] have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. 31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then can condemn? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, [c] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. 52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" 53 Jesus said to them, "Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever." 59 He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
LEAVING ADDICTION FOR HEALING...Psalm 107:1-32 TNIV
his love endures forever.
those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
from east and west, from north and south. [a]
finding no way to a city where they could settle.
and their lives ebbed away.
and he delivered them from their distress.
to a city where they could settle.
and his wonderful deeds for humankind,
and fills the hungry with good things.
prisoners suffering in iron chains,
and despised the plans of the Most High.
they stumbled, and there was no one to help.
and he saved them from their distress.
and broke away their chains.
and his wonderful deeds for humankind,
and cuts through bars of iron.
and suffered affliction because of their iniquities.
and drew near the gates of death.
and he saved them from their distress.
he rescued them from the grave.
and his wonderful deeds for humankind.
and tell of his works with songs of joy.
they were merchants on the mighty waters.
his wonderful deeds in the deep.
that lifted high the waves.
in their peril their courage melted away.
they were at their wits' end.
and he brought them out of their distress.
the waves of the sea [b] were hushed.
and he guided them to their desired haven.
and his wonderful deeds for humankind.
and praise him in the council of the elders.Jeremiah 23:1-8 TNIV
The Righteous Branch
"when I will raise up for David [a] a righteous Branch,
a King who will reign wisely
and do what is just and right in the land.
and Israel will live in safety.
This is the name by which he will be called:
The LORD Our Righteous Savior. Romans 8:28-39 TNIV
More Than Conquerors
"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." [b] John 6:52-59 TNIV
Somewhere in the noise is a song. Somewhere in the cacophony is a melody—a sweet sound. The ensemble is our attempt to discover the rhythms, the groanings and the eureka moments of life amongst the noise.
