If you've got no idea what this is all about, go here. If you're up for the ride, let's read... [a] 1 Hear my prayer, LORD; 2 Do not hide your face from me 3 For my days vanish like smoke; 4 My heart is blighted and withered like grass; 5 In my distress I groan aloud 6 I am like a desert owl, 7 I lie awake; I have become 8 All day long my enemies taunt me; 9 For I eat ashes as my food 10 because of your great wrath, 11 My days are like the evening shadow; 12 But you, LORD, sit enthroned forever; 13 You will arise and have compassion on Zion, 14 For her stones are dear to your servants; 15 The nations will fear the name of the LORD, 16 For the LORD will rebuild Zion 17 He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; 18 Let this be written for a future generation, 19 "The LORD looked down from his sanctuary on high, 20 to hear the groans of the prisoners 21 So the name of the LORD will be declared in Zion 22 when the peoples and the kingdoms 23 In the course of my life [b] he broke my strength; 24 So I said: 25 In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, 26 They will perish, but you remain; 27 But you remain the same, 28 The children of your servants will live in your presence; 9 Concerning the prophets: 10 The land is full of adulterers; 11 "Both prophet and priest are godless; 12 "Therefore their path will become slippery; 13 "Among the prophets of Samaria 14 And among the prophets of Jerusalem 15 Therefore, this is what the LORD Almighty says concerning the prophets: 1 I speak the truth in Christ—I am not lying, my conscience confirms it through the Holy Spirit— 2 I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 3 For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race, 4 the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. 5 Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! [a] Amen. 6 It is not as though God's word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. 7 Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham's children. On the contrary, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned." [b] 8 In other words, it is not the natural children who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring. 9 For this was how the promise was stated: "At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son." [c] 10 Not only that, but Rebekah's children were conceived at the same time by our father Isaac. 11 Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God's purpose in election might stand: 12 not by works but by him who calls—she was told, "The older will serve the younger." [d] 13 Just as it is written: "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated." [e] 14 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15 For he says to Moses, 16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God's mercy. 17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: "I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth." [g] 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden. 60 On hearing it, many of his disciples said, "This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?" 61 Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, "Does this offend you? 62 Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! 63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit [a] and life. 64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. 65 He went on to say, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them." 66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. 67 "You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve. 68 Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God." 70 Then Jesus replied, "Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!" 71 (He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.)
LEAVING ADDICTION FOR HEALING...Psalm 102 TNIV
A prayer of an afflicted person who has grown weak and pours out a lament before the L
let my cry for help come to you.
when I am in distress.
Turn your ear to me;
when I call, answer me quickly.
my bones burn like glowing embers.
I forget to eat my food.
and am reduced to skin and bones.
like an owl among the ruins.
like a bird alone on a roof.
those who rail against me use my name as a curse.
and mingle my drink with tears
for you have taken me up and thrown me aside.
I wither away like grass.
your renown endures through all generations.
for it is time to show favor to her;
the appointed time has come.
her very dust moves them to pity.
all the kings of the earth will revere your glory.
and appear in his glory.
he will not despise their plea.
that a people not yet created may praise the LORD:
from heaven he viewed the earth,
and release those condemned to death."
and his praise in Jerusalem
assemble to worship the LORD.
he cut short my days.
"Do not take me away, my God, in the midst of my days;
your years go on through all generations.
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
they will all wear out like a garment.
Like clothing you will change them
and they will be discarded.
and your years will never end.
their descendants will be established before you."Jeremiah 23:9-15 TNIV
Lying Prophets
My heart is broken within me;
all my bones tremble.
I am like a drunken man,
like one overcome by wine,
because of the LORD
and his holy words.
because of the curse [a] the land lies parched
and the pastures in the wilderness are withered.
The [prophets] follow an evil course
and use their power unjustly.
even in my temple I find their wickedness,"
declares the LORD.
they will be banished to darkness
and there they will fall.
I will bring disaster on them
in the year they are punished,"
declares the LORD.
I saw this repulsive thing:
They prophesied by Baal
and led my people Israel astray.
I have seen something horrible:
They commit adultery and live a lie.
They strengthen the hands of evildoers,
so that none of them turn from their wickedness.
They are all like Sodom to me;
the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah."
"I will make them eat bitter food
and drink poisoned water,
because from the prophets of Jerusalem
ungodliness has spread throughout the land."Romans 9:1-18 TNIV

Many Disciples Desert Jesus
Somewhere in the noise is a song. Somewhere in the cacophony is a melody—a sweet sound. The ensemble is our attempt to discover the rhythms, the groanings and the eureka moments of life amongst the noise.
