Somewhere in the noise is a song. Somewhere in the cacophony is a melody—a sweet sound. The ensemble is our attempt to discover the rhythms, the groanings and the eureka moments of life amongst the noise.

Do schools kill creativity?

A fellow cacophonist, Amanda Powell, sent this through the other day. It's worth investing 20 minutes...perhaps a number of times.

depending on which culture you are coming from , the emphasis in creativity is different. In the french school system, art is important in the curriculum, we also are encouraged to think beyond the box.subjects as philosophy, languages are compulsary no matter what dominant subjects you choose for the Baccalaureat(TEE). Of course there are always negative points : we are an elitist society. It's not enough to be good, you have to be the best. You need to have a creative mind and be curious about what is around you. You have to check things out before making any statements. so I would say that school in france don't necessarily kill creativity but at which cost?
voila

i dunno, but i think that culture is a way of life for a people, a certain people with lotsa things in common.
this is why we have diffrent cultures.
and they do not necesariry have to be in one geographical area. i mean we have urban culture that is somewhat global.
what am driving at here is that, school dosent really.

creativity and school should be words that even ryhme. why yu ask?
this is because, depending on what it is that you define creativity as, school brodens up everyone's horizons, (at least most pple i've meet)

whether it is art like frenchysheila just said, music, or any other form of creativity... school teaches you to maybe think in ways that you would'nt have done so previously...
